A traveling exhibit about Henrietta Lacks, often referred to as "the mother of modern medicine" will grace Willard Library on Nov. 12.
Lacks was a Black woman whose cancer cells, taken without her consent, became the immortal human cell line, contributing to numerous medical breakthroughs. Jermaine Jackson, Lacks' great-nephew and a Kalamazoo resident, will give a lecture followed by a question and answer session at 6 p.m.
